art: a reminder

art is a salve that heals but is also a problem in this day and age, when humans are expected to produce thoughts, ideas and creations, rapidly, on the go for the masses. thus, eroding the essence of art and rendering it only a commodity for consumption. the cultural context is for machines, but humans are not machines. art is a reminder of the same. slowness and art are almost a co-existence. be it the one creating, admiring or receiving art. art activates our parasympathetic nervous system i.e. it slows down our heart rate, brings us to breath, to signs of relief, or moments of catharsis. all of which are experiences that return to us, our humanness.
